I think it would be very hard to change the mind of someone like her on abortion. Empathy involves nuance, and if you're afraid empathy for a person's situation will lead you away from The Truth, you can’t allow nuance; you can't allow for the understanding that someone's race or social location or class might compel them to make a different decision than you might make.
It sounds like she means well – but I think she is somewhat sheltered from the implications of her own beliefs. Others don't have her privilege.
Yes. Her privilege is in her way big time. She also used someone’s deeply painful experience as an example. She even implied they’d be murders had they gotten the abortion. What says about rape victims too. Ugh! She has no empathy. You are right. No nuance.
That chapter, and I’m not done, is the most infuriating to me so far. It’s not researched throughly and making a lot philosophical assumptions as if they are fact.
