So much I could comment on here, Lindsay! The "euphemism" thing is really interesting, isn't it. It's like she feels guilty about not caring enough for the stranger and foreigner, so she tries to find a loophole. It reminds me of Meghan Basham saying that the Good Samaritan story isn't an example of what we should do; it's a reminder that we can't possibly do anything that good, only Jesus can. I wonder who is *really* using euphemisms and trying to avoid doing what the Bible says?

I also really like what you say about the abundance mindset. This is a real issue in a culture where everything is zero-sum and me-first.

Yes, the euphemism thing was so enlightening to me. So that’s how they sleep at night. I have heard people say you can’t ever be like Jesus. I thought that was so odd bc I was taught as a child to be like Jesus. It never occurred to me they were using that as an excuse to not have to change. Which is at the heart of this cruel and evil mess.

My next book report is going to be on Ezra Klein’s book called Abundance. I have never read someone apply that idea politically. I need time hurry up on this awful book so I can get to that one. I am excited about that book.
